Deep Tissue Massage - This type of massage relieves tension or severe pain in the deeper layers of the muscles. A Deep tissue massage is recommended for those who have constant pain, athletes, or patients with sustained physical injury. It is a type of massage that involves applying deep-flowing pressure on the muscles that are tight or sore.

At times a deep massage may involve releasing tender trigger point spots such as 'trigger points', which may include constant pressure on a particular area of muscle with myofascial release techniques.

Relaxation massage - A soothing and flowing relaxing massage that focuses on the superficial muscles. This massage helps reduce pain, joint stiffness, swollen muscles, and stress and improves circulation. Relaxation massages help to calm the mind and body. It is a pain-free massage that involves soothing strokes and kneading of the muscles. This massage style is similar to a Swedish massage which is known as a classic massage. The massage strokes include kneading, long strokes, circular movements, and petrissage. If you live a busy life this massage may be helpful to relieve the stress away. As it helps to calm the mind and relax the nervous system. What is Thai Massage?
Thai massage is known as a healing art therapy, traditional Thai massage is influenced by Ayurvedic and traditional Chinese meridian points and pathways. It originated in India dating back 2,500 years ago.
What is different from Thai massage to a regular massage?
During a Thai massage the client wears loose clothing while laying on a comfortable mat on the floor, the therapist uses techniques such as; stretching, pulling, rocking, while applying deep or medium pressure to tight pressure points in the muscles, on top of the clothing. The therapist may use some old to massage the shoulders if they are exposed. A regular massage usually has the client laying on a table covered with sheets instead of clothing.

Thai massage includes many whole body movements which can be similar as assisted yoga, it helps to improve the flow of energy and healing throughout the body.

Cristy is a Registered Massage Therapist with CMTBC, she graduated from The Alberta College of Massage Therapy (2019) and The Utah College of Massage Therapy (2004). She has completed over 2200 hours of training & all regulated exams required to be a massage therapist in BC. She is a member of The Canadian Massage and Manual Osteopathic Therapists Association (CMMOTA) and registered with The College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia (CMTBC). She has trained and worked in world-class spas on Crystal Cruise ships. She completed deep structural work training at The Rolfing Institute in Boulder, CO where she completed Unit 1 in Rolfing/Structural Integration. I am currently a student who is enrolled in the Registered Massage Therapy program at Langara College. I am in my last year of the program and have learned the majority of advanced techniques of therapeutic massage.
